The Web and Real Estate Agents
I get very excited about discussing this topic. It is also an area that some Realtors® are disturbed by when I speak to consumers of real estate about some of the horrors of Real Estate Agents websites.
First, you should know, that not all Realtors® are the same when it comes to the World Wide Web. Many agents will hire some company to put together a website for them that looks really good and works well for them, but quite honest as far as you are concerned, as a consumer, does very little to benefit you. So relax and let me give you some advice about what agent websites you absolutely should avoid.
1. Avoid any website that requires you to enter any
personal information in order for you to get information.
Why should you have to give anyone information that
other wise is for free? What do you think an agent
who requires information is going to do with that
information? Do you think they have security?
Never, I repeat...NEVER give out personal information up
front just to preview information. The information
is FREE! You can go to any restaurant review the
menu and walk out without dropping a penny, or anyone
knowing who you are. The same principle applies
when it comes to real estate information!
2. Avoid any website
that uses a tracking system.
Do you know that
some agents use websites that actually track when you
are on line reviewing homes. This is scary!
DON'T DO IT! Again the information is suppose to
be FREE. Which also means that you should be able
to use it with anonymity. The first sign is when
you have to give some information to just peruse a
website.
